New Year at Ty Mawr

We have availability for a group of family and friends to stay - together you can unwind for a few days and enjoy the quiet, unspoilt countryside, the good food and lovely old house.

If you reserve at least 5 bedrooms for a stay of two nights or more we shall guarantee to not take any other restaurant bookings during your stay so you will have exclusive use of the whole hotel in the evenings as well.

The house party can be structured to meet your requirements and if you prefer we can discuss the food choices ahead of your booking so that the menus are tailored to your needs. You may like to all sit down to the same meal one night and we can extend the amount of courses if you wish. We can organise quizzes if you are of the competitive nature or maybe you would like to tak part in a murder mystery night, car treasure hunt or horse racing party arranged by us at the hotel.

Good Hotel Guide Award

We are very proud to have received a Cesar Award from the Good Hotel Guide - they have named us their 'Welsh Country Hotel for 2011'.

The Good Hotel Guide is the only hotel guide book that does not charge for entry - they rely on readers report and inspectors to tell them who deserves to be included. Of the 50,000 hotels in Britain just 500 make it into the guide so entry is a great achievement in itself. The editors award only ten Cesars a year so to be given one of these is a great honour and a fabulous reward for all the hard work that we have put into improving the hotel over the years.

As they say in the front of this years guide -

"We give our Cesar awards to the ten best hotels of the year. Named after Cesar Ritz, the most celebrated of hoteliers, these are the Oscars of th hotel-keeping, the accolade hoteliers most want to win. The winners vary greatly in size and style; what they have in common is how well they look after their guests."

Carmarthenshire is worthy of the title 'Garden of Wales' with the huge amount of horticultural attractions in the area and Ty Mawr is well placed to visit all of them. As well as the renowned National Botanic Garden of Wales and Aberglasney Gardens there are also Colby Woodland Gardens near Tenby, Norwood Gardens at Llanllwni, Cae Hir Garden at Temple Bar, the Hywell Dda Centre near Whitland and the award winning Farmyard Nuseries at Llandysul.

At the National Botanic Gardens we have negotiated a reduced entry charge for guests staying at Ty Mawr. Tickets are available at the hotel reception - just mention to Annabel when you book that you are interested.

Aberglasney Gardens, voted by The Sunday Times as one of the top winter gardens in Britain, are offering hotel guests a 10% discount on sales in their gift and plant shop. Also if you would like to get a group of 10 or more people together to visit the Gardens then we can arrange you a free tour around Aberglasney with one of the guides - you just pay the standard entry fee. This offer is obviously subject to availability and must be arranged at the time of the hotel booking.
